Frequently asked questions

Which city has the number plate code HB?

HB stands for Bremen and Bremerhaven (Bremen). Both registration offices issue HB; the one responsible is the office where you live.

Which registration office is responsible for my HB number plate?

The one at your main residence, not the one on the number plate. If you live in Bremen, it's the Zulassungsbehörde der Stadt Bremen; if you live in Bremerhaven, the Zulassungsbehörde der Stadt Bremerhaven.

Can I get a personalised HB number plate online?

When registering or re-registering, the responsible office assigns a number plate. If you reserved a combination with HB there yourself, you enter it with its PIN during the process. We currently don't offer reservations through ZS24.
